Speech Software Support

Speech and DSP Software

Programs for analysis, display, and editing of speech waveforms and spectra.

Beware, this page is under construction (as is some of the software)! Its main purpose is to provide online documentation and access to "course-ware" for students and colleagues at the duPont Hospital for Children and the University of Delaware.

Copying

Any software and documentation which is downloadable from this page may be freely copied and distributed for educational purposes or personal use. Downloaded software is provided "as is" with no warranty whatsoever. If you experience problems or discover bugs in any of these programs, we would appreciate hearing about them, however, we cannot provide any assurance that problems/bugs will be fixed, nor can we accept any liability for damages which might result from the use or misuse of this software.

How to use this page

Documentation for each program is available by following the link on the program name. If it is available for downloading, the software itself can be copied by selecting the link to a target system. Most programs for downloading are bundled with documentation in compressed tar files (*.tar.gz) for Unix systems (Sun, Sgi and Linux) or in PKZIP archives for DOS/Windows platforms. Note that in the case of wedw, a separate native Windows executable is available, distinct from the DOS version, but in most cases, the same executable is used for DOS, Windows 3.1, and Windows 95/98/NT (i.e., the program must be run in an MSDOS command window under Windows). [NB: As of 9/1/99, many of the DOS command tyoe programs are compiled for and will only run on 32-bit operating systems such as the command prompt in Windows]

General and Background Information

Note that many of the Windows/DOS programs below require that several dynamic link libraries also be installed before they can be used. If you download a program and it complains that a needed DLL is not available, try installing the DLLs from winlibs.zip in your windows/system directory.
