This page contains information useful for authors regarding manuscript preparation, manuscript submission, and tracking the status of manuscripts under review.
We are introducing a
number of features to facilitate interactions between authors and the
Language and Speech editorial office.
- While we will always accept manuscripts submitted as hard copy, we encourage all authors to submit their manuscripts in electronic format for review. Electronic submission speeds the review process, sometimes significantly, by minimizing the dependence upon international postal services. If a manuscript is submitted in a reliable image-based format such as postscript or PDF, we no longer require an accompanying printed submission.
We have introduced a procedure to allow authors to check on the progress of their manuscripts via an automated web interface. To maintain a reasonable level of security for this information--ensuring that only the corresponding author or his/her designee has access to information regarding manuscripts under review--authors must select a unique passcode that will permit entry into the system.
Both electronic submission and access to manuscript status will be facilitated if the corresponding author registers on the Language and Speech web site. In registering, the author will provide contact information (address, email, etc.) and select a passcode. This information will not be available to anyone except the Language and Speech editorial staff, and it will be used only for verifying author access and for manuscript-related communication with authors.
